"Tom" wakes up every morning feeling sluggish, unmotivated, and dissatisfied with his physical appearance. He's tired of looking in the mirror and seeing a reflection that doesn't align with his aspirations. He's sick and tired of feeling like a mediocre man. And unless your name is Ryan Reynolds or The Rock, you feel this way more often than you'd like to admit. Perhaps you don't identify as "mediocre" (I don't), but you know you're capable of so much more (I sure do). Our lives seem to consist of brief moments of accomplishment surrounded by wide valleys of funks. Falling into the "Fitness Funk" can happen for many reasons. An injury or hardship, getting into a relationship, having a child. Busy schedules, lack of motivation, and the overwhelming amount of conflicting fitness information online. Being in a funk can leave you feeling out of shape, lower your self-esteem and confidence, and cause a decline in your overall quality of life. It can have you feeling less worthy or less loved. It's easy to say "I'll start next week," but that turns into, "I'll start next month," which turns into "I'll start next year". Each time you say "Tomorrow' or "Next _____ " but don't follow up on it, you erode away at your self-respect. The longer you procrastinate, the bigger the mountain seems to become. The safer it feels to remain at the bottom. Now that I've successfully crushed your spirit like a good little marketer, I now want you to imagine a different story. This may be difficult for some, but take a moment. Imagine yourself exactly as the person you would like to be. Where you wake up excited to get out of bed in the morning. Doing the things you wish you would or could do. Imagine the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from achieving the goals and doing the things that this ideal version of you does on a regular basis. Imagine the confidence, the energy levels, the vitality, hell - even the bank account, sex drive, and improved quality of life that comes from a healthy lifestyle, making decisions, and taking consistent action that you're proud of. Some of you might like to imagine the revenge-success you'll feel towards those who doubted you, looked down upon you, or who disrespected you in the past. Imagine the respect and admiration you'll earn from others when you look and feel your best, and show up for them in ways that improve your relationship with them and their trust in you. But achieving your fitness goals is easier said than done. You know this. I know this. It requires action, consistency, and a strategic approach. That's why I'm here to guide you through the process and help you break free from whatever "Fitness Funk" you may be going through. I've committed to writing a daily email for 30 days. Yeah, we're having a baby in 6 days (more or less), and yes it's our 4th lol. If I can do that, the least you can do is read these and soak up as much value as possible from them. During the next 30 days, I'll provide you with practical advice, actionable tips, and a splash of encouragement and entertainment. I will email you daily - covering Fitness, Training, Nutrition, Lifestyle and mindset. You're not gonna look like a Greek God after 30 days - hate to break it to you - and you should block/unfollow anyway promising anything remotely like that. But y the end of these 30 days you'll feel more confident than ever that you *can* accomplish your goals. You'll feel more informed. More confident in what to do next. But most importantly... You'll have started taking action in the direction of your goals. And who knows... It could be the true catalyst for change. Not the January 1st kind - the kind that breaks your heart and decreases your self-respect each and every year. But the kind that actually works. Because it has you doing the work. Until tomorrow my guys, "Do the Next Right Thing." -Matt P.S. I'm calling this series "30 ways in 30 days to Trade Bodyfat for slabs of precious Muscle."
