the truth about quick fixes

Hello Reader,

Do you remember when diets were those things on magazine covers that you ignored while you stood at the checkout of the discount grocery store?

You knew better than to spend more than 2 seconds looking at those tabloids and Newsweek covers.

Or you were too busy convincing your parents to buy you gum or a twix, snickers, or a kit kat bar.

"This Celebrity broke up with that celebrity"

"The War In ______"

"What [insert President, Billionaire, Athlete, or Oprah] says about ___"

We'd see these and not even think twice.

Our parents would see these and not give a sh** either.

(or at least mine didn't)

Even the crazy covers in regards to diet.

"How I got thin - 60 lbs in 4 months!"

"Fat for Life?" (picture of a chunky baby)

"CHOLESTEROL - and now the bad news..."

(real covers, by the way)

WE KNEW IT WAS ALL B*LLSH**!

Our parents knew (I think).

We knew.

Yet here we are. 10 or 20 years later.

Completely CONSUMED in this BS.

Literally googling this stuff.

Searching this stuff on Tik Tok and Youtube.

Consuming 10 times more mental garbage than our parents did.

Probably 100 times more.

It's right here in our pocket. In our hands. 24/7.

We spend hours every day being consensually bombarded with the crap we wouldn't give 10 seconds to just 10 years ago.

Sure, we're older now.

And while the boogie man to get our attention may have changed...

It used to be cholesterol and fats and carbs...

And now it's... not cholesterol, but still fats and carbs lol

But also Carnivore this, Vegan that, Intermittent Fasting to reverse aging...

It's like we really haven't changed that much.

Quick Fixes ruled the diet culture 20 years ago.

Quick fixes rule the diet culture today.

Because they sell. They get eyeballs. They make money.

I will tell you this. If the thing has a f*cking name. It's BS.

If it hooked your attention (without you working to look for it), it's probably BS.

(the exception being this newsletter, duhhh)

One of the most important realizations you can have later in your fitness journey, or now...

Is that if you feel an emotional connection or hooked into any particular diet or fitness idea

It's very likely BS.

Or at the very least, not the magical thing you think it is.

Marketers, gurus, and corporations go hard on certain trends and diet names, not because people are going to have their lives changed...

But because their number one priority is to legally make as much money as possible.

Content is created for social media to maximize eyeballs and profits.

You'll never hear a friend or guru say "hey did you hear about that diet called gradually incorporating more healthy habits, eating more protein and vegetables, and incorporating higher satiety foods?"

No, it's "Hey... Thoughts on the Carnivore Diet?" or "As soon as I started eating JUST meat, I lost 20 lbs and my testosterone skyrocketed!"

The stuff that works, that will work alongside you living your best life, doesn't trigger an emotional response in you in terms of the marketing.

In fact, it sounds boring AF.

It sounds like "not enough" or "too slow".

It sounds like it might work for some people, but not you.

You want changes NOW.

So you sabotage yourself from the start by avoiding what you know you should be doing (but isn't sexy or fast or emotional) for the BS that sounds life changing.

The stuff that sounds SO crazy and different from what you're currently doing that you get excited to make such a huge change.

Because small changes are never exciting.

Ironically, people fail or give up on diets and fat loss journeys because they bite off more than they can chew.

The two biggest nutrition mistakes that people make:

1) Mistake #1: Hopping on a diet, literally any diet, that has a name

2) Mistake #2: Starting a "diet" by throwing out the entire kitchen sink and replacing it with foods, restrictions, and styles of eating that sound as appealing as a 2/5 Yelp rated restaurant that your cousin swears by or an overnight stay at the county jail.

There are exceptions to these rules of course. But it probably ain't you.

Keep an eye out for the next email where we will be covering the power of habit. How small steps turn into big results.

Until tomorrow my guys,

"Do the Next Right Thing."

P.S. One of my favorite books, ever, is a book about habits called "Tiny Habits."

A Tiny habit that I use daily is that I snap my fingers after each work set I do in the gym. Especially after ones that were just *perfect* (chef's kiss).

Or I snap after finishing a bite-sized chunk of work. Like I'm about to right now. *snap*.

Snapping my fingers and smiling each time I make a decision, or finish through on one. It releases a small boost of feel-good hormones, makes me feel great, and reinforces the action I just took. Try it for yourself.

Hello Reader, This is probably the most impactful email I've ever written. We have 3 months left this year. In 12+ years of coaching and ~20 years of lifting, I know this to be one of the best times of the year where you can drop 10-20 lbs, and for some people, upwards of 30 lbs of fat... completely transforming your life. But how? Simply put - A set of Good Systems. The same system my client Abdulla used to drop 20 lbs in 6 months (13 lbs of which took place during October, November, and...

Hey guys! 🇺🇸 July 4th 2025 with my wife and 3 boys (girlie was napping) I hope everyone had an awesome July 4th Weekend! We're officially 6 months into the year at this point. I think you deserve more. I've been lifting for nearly 20 years now. And so far this year, with just 4 workouts per week, I have:...
